We built the map from public data and checked it by hand. 6,479 independent San Diego businesses were on it on 5 October 2026, with no involvement from any of them. If you're independent and anywhere in San Diego County, you're likely already there.
Claiming is how you take the wheel
Set your hours, your phone and your website, and write the one line about who you are. It is free, it is live the moment you save, and hours are the part that matters: a place with no hours is never anybody's tip, because we will not send somebody to a locked door.
The something small is a gesture
First coffee's on the house. A side with the plate. The good table if it's free. It costs you almost nothing and it's the thing people tell their friends about. The app talks about you warmly and never about money off, because one of those gets repeated to a friend and the other does not.
Nobody can buy the top slot
Every place has to pass every filter: independent, open now, right kind of place, close enough. Claiming changes what is true about your place, never how often it is the answer. There is no paid placement, and there never will be.

Claiming is open now and free, because the one thing you can do for your listing today is make it true: most places on the map have no hours on record, and a place with no hours is never the answer. Nothing is for sale, and nothing will be until there are people walking in to show you.

How much does Hot Tip cost a business?
Being listed is free and always will be, and so is claiming your listing to set your own hours, phone, website and one line about the place. A flat monthly price with no commission, no contract and no hardware is planned for later, and only once Hot Tip can show you people who came in for the first time.
Can a business pay to be recommended more often?
No. Claiming a listing changes what is true about it, such as its hours, and never how often it is recommended. Every place has to pass the same filters. There is no paid top slot and there never will be.
Does Hot Tip require any hardware or staff training?
No. Check-ins are confirmed by the customer's own phone location, so staff need to do nothing at all. There is no tablet, no POS integration and no app for staff.
How do I get my San Diego business on Hot Tip?
Independent businesses across San Diego County are added from public data and checked by hand, so you are probably listed already. Find your place at app.hottip.club/claim. If your business has its own website, an email address there proves it is yours on the spot; otherwise we call the number the business publishes.
