We built the map from public data and checked it by hand. 1550 independent San Diego businesses are on it right now, with no involvement from any of them. If you're independent and in one of our 18 neighborhoods, you're likely already there.

Fix your hours, write the one human line about who you are, and put something small on the table for people walking in the door for the first time. That's the whole dashboard.
The something small is a gesture
First coffee's on the house. A side with the plate. The good table if it's free. It costs you almost nothing and it's the thing people tell their friends about. The app talks about you warmly and never about money off, because one of those gets repeated to a friend and the other does not.
Nobody can buy the top slot
Claimed businesses get a modest nudge in the ranking and still have to pass every filter: independent, open now, right kind of place, close enough. There is no paid placement, and there never will be.

Most of what makes these programs miserable is stuff we simply didn't build.

What exists is a working app, 1550 independent San Diego listings, and one person building it on weekends. The business side gets built once people are actually checking in, because building it sooner would be building it for nobody.
